珠美海棠是一种野生果树资源,能在含盐6％的土质条件下正常生长、开花和结果,也能在微酸性的土壤中生长。珠美海棠还具有极强的抗寒、抗病特性,苗木在5℃以上、35℃以下能正常生长,苗期年生长高达1米以上,10年生树高3米左右,树冠约4米。树形美观,花期长达40天,果实亦是良好的商品果,是绿化盐渍地区的理想树种。由于珠美海棠种子发芽率极低,一般扦插方法亦难以繁殖,影响了该树种的引种。中国科学院石家庄
