本品为五加科植物人参Panax SinseneC.A.Mey的干燥根。有大补元气、安神益智的作用,为中医常用滋补药。早在汉代的《神农本草经》就有记载。因其根如人形而得名。素有棒槌、山参(系指野生)、园参(系指栽培)之称,是我国特产的一种珍贵药材。目前临床使用的人参有国产品,野生的山参和人工栽培的园参两类。由于加工方法不同可分为白参(糖参)、红参、生晒参三大类。国外进口的人参,有从朝鲜进口的朝鲜红参;从美国和加拿大进口的野生的山洋参和栽培的西洋
