1979年,国际旅行总社接待海外游客16万多人,尽管如此,它已超过了该社建社20多年接待人数的总和。由此可见,建国30多年来旅游业在我国是何等微小。但是,到1987年,来华旅游的入境总人数却达到2690.2万,为1978年的14.8倍。今年仅1、2月份来华旅游入境总人数比去年同期增长30.1％。与此同时,我国在国际旅游业中的地位日益提高。国家旅游总局提供的统计资料表明:从旅游创汇水平看,我国已由1979年占世界的第41位上升到1986年的第17位;从旅游业发展的总水平看,我国已达到在世界上属于中等偏上、在亚洲属于前几名的水平。
In 1979, the International Travel Service received more than 160,000 overseas tourists, though it exceeded the total number of receptions by the agency over 20 years ago.
