抗日战争爆发前夕,云南的新闻事业到了奄奄一息的境地。原来的几家民办和商办报纸,都因经营拮据而相继停刊。当时云南只剩下国民党省党部主办的云南《民国日报》和云南省政府主办的《云南日报》。这两张报纸因有强硬的靠山才得以维持下来。 抗日战争促进了云南政治经济文化各方面的发展,也促进了云南新闻事业的繁荣。抗日战争中,云南成了大后方。国内一些著名大学,如北大、清华、南开、同济等都迁来昆明,内地的许多大报也纷纷迁来
On the eve of the outbreak of the war of resistance against Japan, journalism in Yunnan reached its dying position. The original several privately-run and commercial newspapers, have been closed down because of operational constraints. At that time, there were only Yunnan “Republic Daily” hosted by the Kuomintang provincial Party branch and “Yunnan Daily” sponsored by the Yunnan Provincial Government. The two newspapers were able to survive because of their tough backing. The War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression promoted the development of all aspects of politics, economy and culture in Yunnan and promoted the prosperity of Yunnan journalism.
