The subprime crisis in the United States swept the world, rapidly evolving into a global economic crisis and led to the global economic downturn. In the meantime, voices of objections to economic globalization have been constantly voiced. At the same time, regional economic integration has been favored as a compromise organization that integrates state regulation with economic liberalization. However, the EU has the highest degree of integration and has not avoided a recession, even worse than the United States. In contrast, East Asia, though not integrated at the institutional level, has achieved overall steady growth through its international production and circulation network and once again becomes the “new growth pole” of the world economy in the post-financial crisis era. This article mainly explores the fundamental reason why East Asia has grown into a “new growth pole.” It also points out China’s strategic choices.
