潘陽第八中學辦二部制後,全校十六個教室,上下午均為課堂教學所占用,校內更沒有機動教室和禮堂,操場也很小。走讀生無課時只得回家。但多數走讀生回家後無人組織領導,都把時間消耗在玩耍、逛大街上,有些走讀生能在家復習,一遇到難解決的問題,也沒有機會和別人研究。另方面,在一部學生上課時,另一部學生不能到校進行課外活動,怕影響上課,當時學校領導亦未認真研究解決,結果愛活動的學生就老是打球和遊戲,不愛活動的,就每天坐著看書,課間操活動都不出來。因此學生學習成績很差,學得的知識不鞏固不平衡。後來該校組織了「家庭自習小組」,並指定專人領導這項工作,實
