叶圣陶先生说过:“一个受教育的人,依理说,必须了解固有文化,才能继往开来。否则,像无根之草,长不起来,也就说不上受教育。”这“固有文化”是什么?当然是文言文。文言文是古人思想智慧的结晶,是传统文化的集中荟萃,是文学宝库中的精品典范。学习文言文,就是走进中国的传统文化;学好文言文,将有利于中国传统文化的传承。
