宝、钗、黛的爱情纠葛,终以悲剧结局。无论在小说或在电视剧中,林黛玉都是在凄凄惨惨中结束了年轻的生命。然而,两者中的黛玉之死迥然不同,各自作了相异的处理,这不能不引发人们作一番思考。曹雪芹的早逝,使他未能写完宝,黛爱情的悲剧结局。然而,早在〔枉凝眉〕这支曲中,曹雪芹就把宝、黛互相爱恋而又不能结合的哀愁和痛苦写得声泪俱下:“一个是阆苑仙葩,一个是美玉无瑕。若说没奇缘,今生偏又遇着他。若说有奇缘,如何心事终虚话?一个枉自嗟呀,一个空劳牵挂。一个是水中月,一个是镜中花。想眼中能有多少泪珠儿,怎禁得秋流到冬尽,春流到夏;”曹雪芹一连用了六个“一个是”,两个“若说”,反复比照,回肠荡气,对宝、黛爱情的悲剧命运寄予深切的同情。
