佛教宗派中,禅宗对中国古代文人的影响最大,以禅论道、以禅评诗在传统文人生活中风行一时,留下了大量禅意盎然的诗作,“士无故不彻琴瑟”,古琴与文人的密切关系又使诗中有大量描写古琴的篇章。这些琴诗通过琴与禅、琴与声、音与意乃至音乐的审美情趣与准则等内容,表现了佛教无我、性空、顿悟、明心见性等思想。它们是禅宗诸理念在古琴领域的体现,从一个侧面显示出佛教文化对传统音乐文化的影响。
