“Angry Grape” tells the story of a bankrupt American farmer in central and western America making a living in California during the Great Depression. The protagonist of the novel, Tom Jodh, has undergone a tremendous shift of thought from being an individualist longing for hedonism to being a social revolutionary leader who benefits the poor. This article analyzes the process and reasons of Tom Jodh’s transformation.
