In many assumptions about the pathogenesis of ankylosing spondylitis (AS), immune cell pattern imbalance is thought to be an important mechanism. Th17 cells and Treg cells are two subsets of CD4 + T cells that play a role in the promotion and suppression of inflammation, respectively. Many studies suggest that the number of Th17 cells and Treg cells and related cytokines in peripheral blood of patients with AS are different, and the imbalance in the proportion of AS in the development of an important role, the specific mechanism remains unclear. This article describes the recent progress in the role of Th17 and Treg cells and their imbalance in the development of AS.
