According to statistics, from 1980 to 2001, the dependency of the United States, Japan, Germany and India on foreign trade remained generally within the range of 14% -20%. During the same period, China’s foreign trade volume hit a record high, with the dependence on foreign trade rising from 15% to 60.2% in 2003, much higher than the above-mentioned developed countries and developing countries. The degree of dependence on foreign trade reflects the extent to which a country’s economy relies on foreign trade and its participation in international division of labor and reflects many of its constituent elements in its economic development strategy and is important to its international relations
