英国当代作家奈保尔的《半生》是在他2001年获得诺贝尔奖两周后推出的。小说中作者沿袭了一向描写一群边缘人士在后殖民时期无奈、迷茫想要寻根的基本现状。深刻的对印度消极避世文化和非洲殖民统治结束前后的混乱进行了批评与讽刺。《半生》的可贵之处在于,作者塑造了一些女性形象,她们更愿意自己主导自己的命运,比起某些男性来,更具魄力和决断力。
The half-life of contemporary British writer Naipaul was launched two weeks after he won the Nobel Prize in 2001. In the novel, the author follows the basic situation that has always described a group of marginalized people who are helpless and confused in their post-colonial period. He criticized and satirized the negative and evasive Indian culture and the chaos before and after the end of African colonial rule. “Half life” is valuable because, the author has created a number of female images, they are more willing to dominate their own destiny than some men more courage and determination.
