永嘉早香柚1989年11月被浙江省农业厅确定为省优产品。同时参加全国优质水果评选会,获柚类第八名。1993年12月在泰国举办的国际优质农产品博览会获银质奖。1994年11月在中国农科院柑桔研究所召集的柚类评比会上,获得金杯奖,随着早香柚身价的增加和知名度的提高,至今年全县已建立永嘉早香柚基地4500亩,本地酸柚高树嫁接早香柚近2万株,成为山区半山区农村致富的一条重要门路。
