Objective To understand the epidemic situation of Dengue Fever, the population antibody level and the change of Aedes mosquito population (including larvae breeding and density change) in Yunnan province so as to provide a scientific basis for forecasting, early warning and formulating prevention and control measures of dengue fever epidemic. Methods The medical staff at medical, health and quarantine agencies at all levels timely detected and diagnosed suspected and clinical cases. Serum samples of normal people were randomly selected before the epidemic season and stored at -20 ℃. Serological tests were performed by ELISA. On a monthly basis, the site-specific survey method was used to monitor Aedes albopictus, Aedes aegypti populations, breeding environment, Aedes larval index and adult mosquito density, one of the major vectors of dengue fever once a month. Results In 2006, 18 cases of imported dengue fever occurred in Yunnan Province. The positive rate of dengue IgG antibody in healthy population was 8.09%. The Aedes larvae density Brett index (BI) and container index (CI) were between 14-98 and 47-73.68, respectively. The Aedes albopictus adult mosquito density ranged from 3.5 to 34 / artificial hours. Conclusions The incidence of imported dengue fever in Yunnan Province is on the rise. The positive rate of dengue IgG antibody in human antibody level is high, suggesting that the local population may have past infection or latent infection of the virus. The larval Brett Index and Container Index And Aedes albopictus adult mosquito density are high, the transmission of dengue fever is extremely dangerous, should be highly attention.
