The important conclusion made by Comrade Hu Jintao in his “1 July” speech that “the people’s interest is no small thing” is an important guideline for our party to realize, safeguard and develop the fundamental interests of the broad masses of the people under the new historical conditions. It is the litmus test of Marxist political parties to believe who, who to rely on, who to whom, and always stand on the position of the overwhelming majority of the people. However, some people regard the interests of the masses as a “trivial matter,” indifference and ignorance. Some even abuse power for their own sake, seriously violate the interests of the masses and forget that the people are the root of our lives. December 26 this year is the 110th anniversary of Mao Zedong’s birthday. In memory of the great accomplishments of the great leader Mao Zedong, we have collected a few “little stories” from his Yan’an period and from these seemingly insignificant “little things”, we have shown the simple and genuine friendship between the great man and ordinary people. We can feel strongly that Mao Zedong, who came out of ordinary laborers, knows best the joy and sadness, the happiness and the sorrow of the broad masses of the people. If all our leading cadres at all levels, like Chairman Mao, can, with their profound feelings toward the people and the masses, sincerely and not hypocritically, wholeheartedly and instead of working half-heartedly to help the masses solve the difficulties and problems in their daily life and work, We will surely win the satisfaction, support and delight of the people. Only in this way, serving the people wholeheartedly will not become an empty talk.
