《湖南方言调查报告》由杨时逢先生整理，于1974年在台湾出版。它立足于语言实际，调查的面广点多，材料丰富，一直是语言工作者继续深入研究湖南方言的重要参考著作。不过，它也存在着不足，比如关于湖南方言的分区结果就不很理想，至今国内外学者对此仍持有多种看法。这一问题还有待于进一步探讨。另外，过音声母字多是益阳方言一个很突出的特点，《报告》却认为只是“偶尔”现象，它所记录的益阳方言音系中没有给〔I〕声母以一席地位，对此，本文提出了质疑。
The Hunan Dialect Survey Report was compiled by Mr. Yang Shifeng and published in Taiwan in 1974. It based on the language of the actual investigation of a wide range of more abundant materials, has been the language workers continue to study Hunan dialect important reference book. However, there are still some shortcomings. For example, the result of zoning in Hunan dialect is not very satisfactory. So far, scholars both at home and abroad hold various views on this topic. This issue still needs to be further explored. In addition, the polyphonic alphabet is a prominent feature of Yiyang dialect, but the report considers it as an “occasional” phenomenon. Its recorded Yiyang dialect does not give a place to the initials of Yiyang. This article raises questions.
