In modern times, the British Empire was called the “never-ending” empire because of its vast territory. It profoundly affected the course of world history. Therefore, the study of the history of the British Empire has always been an important academic issue in the field of western history. In August 2006, a seminar was held at the British Acad-emy on the study of the history of British imperial thought. The theme of the conference was a multidisciplinary dialogue in the study of the history of the imperial ideology. Participants learned from both theory and practice Depth discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of using multidisciplinary approaches in the study of British imperial ideological history, and believes that interdisciplinary research will help advance the research on the history of intellectual history. According to papers submitted by participating scholars, Dr. Duncan Kelly of Cambridge University selected some of the essays and compiled them into books. This is the origin of the “pedigree of the empire: the historical source of British imperialism.”
