1953年11月,老舍先生来到了朝鲜我连驻地无峰山。我们敲锣打鼓欢迎这位仰慕已久的作家。欢迎会上,连指导员张曰起致欢迎词。老舍先生慈祥和蔼地说:“同志们,我是来向英雄们学习的,对部队的生活我一无所知,我是个小学生。”“我是被志愿军伟大的爱国主义革命英雄主义精神所鼓舞,为同志们勇猛杀敌,不怕牺牲,特别是以劣势装备打败世界上最强大的敌人——美帝国主义的壮举所感动,这使我激动得坐卧不宁。作家的良心驱使我要写出这惊天地,泣鬼神的惊人业绩!向世界宣告人类爱好和平,正义是不可战胜的。”
