天山云杉是新疆山区的主要用材树种。其扦插无性繁殖在山区育苗工作上有着十分重要的意义。用扦插无性繁殖建立无性系种子园可以避免用常规嫁接方法建园引起的由于接穗和砧木的迟发性、不亲和性而导致母树大量死亡；天山云杉无性繁殖是进行无性系选择，加快实现天山云杉树种的遗传改良的新途径；经初试研究，扦插育苗不仅成本较低，速生性好，且可以通过对优良采穗母株的选择，大量繁殖，培育良种壮苗。
