1933年芝加哥世博会是在世界经济大萧条背景下举办的。芝加哥通过演绎“一个世纪的进步”主题,弘扬科学进步的精神,展示当代科技成果,战胜失业、资金短缺以及民心失望等困难,化危机为契机,在失望中寻找希望,成功地举办了世博会。芝加哥的经验值得借鉴。
The 1933 Chicago World Expo was held in the context of the world’s Great Depression. Through the interpretation of the theme of “a century of progress”, Chicago promoted the spirit of scientific progress, displayed contemporary scientific and technological achievements, overcame the difficulties of unemployment, shortage of funds, and disappointment among the people, turned crisis into an opportunity, looked for hope in disappointment, and successfully organized World Expo. The Chicago experience is worth learning from.
