Objective To investigate the effect of health education on bone mass in patients with osteoporosis and its significance. Methods Totally 260 osteoporosis patients with osteoporosis in the middle-aged and elderly population undergoing physical examination in Taizhou Hospital of Zhejiang Province were randomly divided into observation group (130 cases) and control group (130 cases). The observation group was given oral alendronate (70 mg / week for 1 year), calcium carbonate 600 mg and vitamin D 125 ID (1 / d, 1 year), and health education. The control group was given the same medication. Before and after treatment, the lumbar and femoral neck BMD were measured in both groups. One year later, 118 and 120 of the observation and control groups were followed up. Compared with the control group, the bone mass of lumbar spine and femoral neck in the observation group were significantly increased, the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion One-year health education can significantly improve patients’ self-management ability and maintain a good life style, effectively preventing and delaying the bone loss in middle-aged and elderly patients with osteoporosis.
