辽阳汽车弹簧厂过去生产的弹簧,一直采用多片、等截面结构,其自重可达汽车金属构件重量的1/10.它使用寿命低,消耗金属材料多,乘坐的舒适感差.该厂从1981年开始研制少片变截面弹簧时,派出工程技术人员考察了美国洛克维尔国际公司汽车总部纽卡索弹簧厂.结合我国具体情况,消化国际先进工艺后,于1983年下半年,攻克了少片变截面弹簧轧制的关键工艺难关,试制成功SY141型
