98% of the plasma testosterone (T) is bound and almost exclusively bound to testosterone-binding globulin (TeBG) and albumin. It is recognized that TeBG-bound T has no biological activity and that albumin-bourd T (ABT) has no biological activity yet to be controversial. Many recent data suggest that both free T (FT) and ABT are bioactive; ABT is free to dissociate into albumin and enter the tissue.
