Objective To investigate the changes of serum sex hormone levels in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and its clinical significance. Methods The levels of serum estradiol (E2), testosterone (Te), progesterone (PRO) and prolactin (PRL) were measured by radioimmunoassay in 57 male and female postmenopausal women. With 50 normal controls. Results The concentrations of E1 and E2 were significantly higher than those of the normal group (P <0.05), and the levels of Te were significantly lower than those of the normal group (P <0.01). The level of PRL was significantly higher than that of the normal group (P <0.01) Statistical significance (P> 0.05). Conclusions The changes of sex hormones are closely related to RA.
