中国的文化,就是汉字的文化。汉字是表意文字,是和表音文字完全不同的东西;在脑中,处理文字的部位也不相同。所谓“近代文化”,即世界文化史上延续至现代的文化,是建立在表音文字字母的基础上的。且不说打字机以至电脑这些近代机器,一般而言,近代人的思考方法与感觉,可说全依表音字母所规定的形式所形成。因此我们怀疑,以这些所谓近代的思考方法与感觉,加上机器来处理汉字的文化是否妥当。我们深觉不妥。因为这样
