Zhuangzi’s thought of “non-self-denial” and Buddhism “non-selflessness” are quite similar in terms of their literal meaning, but in essence they are two concepts belonging to different ideological systems. The difference is obvious. The ancient Chinese scholars also differed from the acceptance of the two kinds of ideas and concepts. The acceptance of the “no-self” thought by the literati was more extensive than the acceptance of the “no-self” thought. The reason is that the Taoist ideology, which represents native native culture, is easier to understand and accept, and the foreign Buddhist culture is also inevitably going through the process of localization in the process of transplanting heterogeneous cultures.
