叶圣陶是现代教育的一代宗师,20世纪的教育巨匠,他很好地将教育、出版理论与实践结合,对我国的教育事业、教育出版事业产生很大的影响。人民教育出版社是叶圣陶工作时间最长的任职单位,作为新中国教材出版事业的亲历者、领导者、开拓者和奠基人,他主持创建了新中国的教材出版体系,为新中国的中小学教材和教育图书的编辑出版发行工作作出了不可磨灭的贡献。他在新中国成立前后提出的“解放军打到哪里,教材就送到哪里”的口号至今仍被铭记。开创新中国教育
