吉卜赛,是以过游荡生活为特点的一个民族。原住印度西北部。公元十世纪前后,吉卜赛人开始外移,到处流浪。现在,吉卜赛人几乎遍布世界各地,共约二百万人。其中大部分人居住在欧洲,少数人已定居。吉卜赛人擅长歌舞。他们的音乐有时带有忧伤、哀怨的情调,这和他们穷困、流浪的生活有关。但有时也热情、奔放,表现了他们放荡不羁的性格。吉卜赛音乐非常丰富而有特色,因此,不少作曲家将吉卜赛音乐素材运用在他们的作品里,或创作吉卜赛风格的乐曲。例如法国著名歌剧《卡门》、著名舞剧《巴黎圣母院》等
Gypsy, is a nation characterized by wandering life. Indigenous Northwest India. Before and after the tenth century AD, the Roma began to migrate and wander around. Nowadays, there are almost 2 million Roma people in almost all parts of the world. Most of them live in Europe and a few have settled. Gypsies are good at singing and dancing. Their music is sometimes sad, sad mood, which is related to their poor, stray life. But sometimes passionate, unrestrained, showing their bohemian character. Gypsy music is very rich and distinctive, therefore, many composers use the music materials of gypsy in their works, or create gypsy-style music. For example, the famous French opera “Carmen”, the famous dance “Notre Dame de Paris” and so on
