我校于1958年开始研制钢球表面缺陷自动检验机,先后与重庆轴承厂合作,制造了JAO4型和ZO52K型等样机。这两台样机在结构上主要由机械、光电转换、电器等三部分组成。机械部分主要实现钢球表面的展开,使全部钢球表面均扫过光点,光电转换部分是在钢球表面扫过光点时,将钢球表面所引起光点反射光通量的变化转变为电讯号;电器部分是将电讯号放大,并根据讯号情况将钢球分为合格品与不合格品。到目前为止,检验机能比较稳定地检验二级钢球的表面缺陷,JAO4机一次检验正确性达90%,ZO52K机还能选出人工肉眼不易看到的裂纹球,宽度约0.02左右。
