红木(Bixa Orellana Linn)又名胭脂木。是一种热带的食品染料植物。它的肉质外种皮可提取红色及黄色染料,供乳酪奶油、人造乳酪及各种糖果、糕点、肴馔等食品工业上染色,不影响产品的味道和香气。同时亦可作丝棉、纺织、油漆、鞋油、腊烛、肥皂及各种化装品工业的染色剂。红木在十九世纪欧美资本主义国家就广泛的使用,但自十九世纪后期,由于化学合成染料工业的不断兴起,红木和其它天然植物染料一样,不断被合成染料所代替。近年来由于发现化学合成染料用于食品染色对人体有付作用,因而红木再度被人们所重视。我省从红木中初步提取的红色素样品,在交易会上反映良好。
Redwood (Bixa Orellana Linn) also known as rouge wood. Is a tropical food dye plant. Its fleshy exocarp extracts red and yellow dyes for use in the dairy industry, such as cheese cream, artificial cheese and various confectionery, cakes and food dishes, without affecting the taste and aroma of the product. At the same time also for silk, textiles, paint, shoe polish, Candian, soap and various cosmetics industry dye. Redwood was widely used in 19th-century European and American capitalist countries, but since the late 19th century, mahogany has been replaced by synthetic dyes, like other natural plant dyes, due to the continuous rise of the chemical synthetic dye industry. In recent years, due to the discovery of chemical synthetic dyes for food coloring to pay the human body, so mahogany once again attention. The sample of red pigment extracted from mahogany in our province was good at the fair.
