《詹天佑》是一遍写人的记叙文。全文记叙了詹天佑在修筑京张铁路的过程中,不怕帝国主义的嘲笑,克服工程中的千难万险,提前完成了修筑任务的事迹,表现了詹天佑时一位杰出的爱国工程师。课文第四自然段用概括性的语句讲述了詹天佑勘测线路中遇到的困难。这一自然段最后有这么一句:“遇到困难,他总是想:这是中国人自己修筑的第一条铁路,一定要把它修好。否则不但那些外国人要讥笑我们,而且会使中国工程师失掉信心。”
