The First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College is a provincial general hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research. Founded in 1919, it was formerly known as “Bohai Hospital.” After the liberation, it was renamed the Provincial Wenzhou Hospital, the First People’s Hospital of Wenzhou, and the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical College. In 1986, it changed its current name. In 1992, it was approved as a Class III A Hospital and Zhejiang Provincial Civilized Hospital. The hospital covers an area of 19,000m 2 and medical buildings 53000m 2 . It now has 800 beds open, with an annual outpatient population of 710,000, hospital discharges of 16,000, annual bed turnovers of 23, and bed occupancy rate of 100%.
