有一个大学生,一直热爱油画,大学毕业后,他出国留学继续深造。可是,在国外的生活太拮据了,读书之余,他还要靠打工赚取生活费。后来,有人介绍了一份工作给他,就是帮宾馆修剪草坪。这个工作和画画可是大相径庭,不仅需要一把好体力,而且剪草坪的剪子还会把手磨得粗糙不堪。起初他很不愿意,因为他的梦想是当一名油画家而不是草坪工人。但现实是不由自己的意愿决定的,他只好一次次地去到宾馆外面,对着草坪和灌木,不断地重复单调的工作。
