At present, the incidence of malignant tumors is on the rise. Although we have been exploring the mechanism of tumor development and its treatment, we have achieved very little. The mechanism of occurrence and development of malignant tumors is very complicated, associated with a variety of proteins and genes. Connective tissue growth factor (CTGF / CCN2) is a secreted protein that belongs to the CCN family and plays a very important role in tumor development. This review summarizes the structural functions of CTGF / CCN2 protein and their roles in the development of malignant tumors and the recent progress in their targeted therapies.
