pfmdr1 and pfmdr2 are the multidrug resistance genes of both mammalian species of Plasmodium. Experiments by Foote et al. Showed that mutations in the pfmdr1 gene are associated with chloroquine resistance in Plasmodium, but the test by Wellems et al. This experiment further studied the copy number and expression of two genes pfmdr1 and pfmdr2 in the sensitive and resistant strains of Plasmodium falciparum. The results again confirmed that the two copies of the gene copy number and chloroquine resistance are not related, but at the mRNA transcription level, pfmdr1 and pfmdr2 genes are associated with chloroquine resistance, although the level of its transcription level is not proportional to the degree of resistance. This paper first proposed the relationship between pfmdr2 and chloroquine resistance. In addition the experimental results also found that the pfmdr1 gene
