目前我国大中型高炉的热风系统仍然以考贝式热风炉和湿法除尘为主.考贝式热风炉有许多缺点.要想取得较高的风温(1100℃以上)是比较困难的.湿法除尘费水费电,污染环境.从整体来看,这样的热风系统投资大,生产费用高,而且风温水平低,寿命不长,因此如何使我国高炉热风系统来个较大的变革,尚需进一步研究、试验和探索.可喜的是近十年来,小高炉在热风系统技术改造中取得了突破性的进展.以布袋除尘为精除尘设备的干法除尘和球式热风炉取代传统的湿法除尘和考贝式热风炉获得了成功,从而使风温达到1200℃,一般也可以维持在1000~1100℃.热风炉的热效率提高20%左右.
