采用工艺冷却与润滑是冷轧生产的一大特点。一般而言，所使用的工艺冷润介质是乳化液，即轧制油和软水混合而成的乳状物。攀钢于１９９２ 年从墨西哥引进了薄板轧机—四机架六辊ＨＣ冷连轧机是一种新型的轧机，有较完整的乳化液系统配置。如何控制乳化液理化指标，为轧机生产提供优质、清洁、冷润性能良好、具有一定工序防锈性能的乳化液，已成为一项重要的课题。
