随着知识经济和信息时代的来临,继续教育面临着前所未有的机遇与挑战。计算机的普及,INTENET的兴起,使现有的继续教育模式适应不了新信息时代对继续教育的需要。知识经济呼唤高素质人才,知识经济也必将推动继续教育的发展。随着知识经济的发展,终身教育的观念深入人心,学习型社会的提出,使得继续教育面临前所未有的发展机遇和巨大挑战。为了实现教育要为经济服务,教育要适应社会需要,以及逐步建立和完善终身教育体系的目标,就必须对继续教育的培养目标、办学形式、教学层次、教学模式、教学管理及教师知识的更新等方面进行调整和改革。
