毛庆顺是天津武清人,早在中学时就是文艺宣传队骨干,独唱,朗诵样样行。每当学校开运动会,担任播音工作的毛庆顺便可大展身手。中学毕业后,毛庆顺到了部队。虽然部队生活节奏很紧张,但一有闲暇,他还是苦练播音评论基本功,把当时的小黑白电视声音关掉,只留画面,对着体育比赛画面练习讲解。晚上吹过熄灯号,毛庆顺用被子盖住头和身子,拿两个脸盆扣住脑袋,以便能更好地听清辨析自己的声音、语速、音质和情感。每天清晨,他起床比别人早,到室外练习眼疾口快的反映,看到什么说什么,真可谓见景生情,眼到口到。
