大豆在生育期日吸肥量和土壤供肥量都是出苗至开花期逐渐上升,开花始期猛增,结荚期达高峰,鼓粒、成熟期逐渐下降。但日吸肥量上升的速度相当快,而供肥量上升的速度缓慢,使二者变化速度之差较大。再加上人们习惯于将肥料作为基肥或种肥一次施入,同时大豆本身在生育后期吸肥能力减弱,这就造成了大豆生育后期的脱肥现象。
