Prof. WEI Shoukun was b in Tianjin in September 1907. He received his B. Sc. Degree from the Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering,Peiyang University in 1929. After passing the state examination held by the Tianjin Municipal Govment in 1930,he was sent to Germany in 1931 for advanced study in the Chemistry Department of Technische Hochschule Dresden. He was awarded the Dr.-Ing. Degree in 1935.After spending one year as a post doctoral fellow at the Eisenhüttenm(a)nnishes Institute of Technische Hochschule Aachen under the tutelage of Prof. Eilender for one year, he reted to his homeland in 1936.He is now Professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) and a senior member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
