As one of the four classic Chinese literary classics, “Dream of the Red Chamber” is an encyclopedia of traditional culture, which also contains a wealth of Chinese medicine culture. Since the early nineteenth century, “Dream of Red Mansions” has been translated into English, followed by the emergence of multiple English translations. The two most widely accepted translations are the two English versions of Yang Hsien-yi and Hawkes. This article makes a contrastive analysis of the English versions of the terms of pulse syndrome in some chapters of the two translations and makes reference to the translation of the terminology of traditional Chinese medicine in literary works with reference to the standards of English translation of TCM terms published by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies and the World Health Organization. In the author’s opinion, with the continuous promotion of the standardization of the international communication of Chinese medicine culture, not only the readability of the translation should be considered in the translation of literary works in English and the terminology of traditional Chinese medicine in popular reading, more attention should be paid to the unification and standardization of the English translation of terms Boost the international spread of Chinese medicine culture.
