俞大绂教授是我国著名的植物病理学和微生物学家,是我国近代植物病理学学科的奠基人之一。原籍浙江绍兴,生于1901年2月19日。1924年毕业于南京金陵大学。1928～1932年在美国衣阿华大学深造,获博士学位。回国后历任金陵大学教授,昆明清华大学农业研究所教授,北京大学农学院院长、教授,中央研究院院士、评议员等。新中国成立后,俞教授一直在北京农业大学任教,曾任校务委员会副主任、校长、名誉校长。他曾当选为全国政协第三届委员,第四、五、六届常务委员。他还担任中国农学会副理事长,中国植物病理学会理事长,中国植物保护学会理事长,中国真菌学会名誉理事长,中国科学院生物学部委员。1956年当选为苏联农业科学院通讯院士。
Professor Yu Dao is a famous plant pathology and microbiologist in China and one of the founders of modern plant pathology in China. The origin of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, was born in February 19, 1901. 1924 graduated from Nanjing Jinling University. 1928 ~ 1932 Iowa University in the United States, a doctorate. After returning to China, he served successively as a professor at Jinling University, a professor at the Institute of Agriculture at Tsinghua University in Kunming, a dean and professor at the Peking University Agronomy College, a member of the Academia Sinica, and a councilor. After the founding of New China, Professor Yu has been teaching at Beijing Agricultural University. He was the deputy director, principal and honorary principal of the school board. He was elected as the third member of the CPPCC National Committee, the fourth, fifth and sixth standing members. He also served as vice chairman of China Agronomy Society, chairman of Chinese Society for Plant Pathology, chairman of Chinese Society for Plant Protection, honorary chairman of China Fungi Society, and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Department of Biology. In 1956 was elected academician of Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
