The fourth WTO Ministerial Conference in Qatar will formally adopt the text of China’s accession agreement, which marks the successful conclusion of China’s accession process. Thirty days after China accepted the WTO accession agreement, China became an official WTO member. The significance of China’s great WTO accession will not overestimate its importance no matter what its assessment. We will witness together this decisive moment of economic, political and security arrangements for the world. It will have far-reaching implications for the world in this century and beyond. International cooperation is more important than ever before following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. China’s accession to the WTO means that it has joined such an organization based on rules and regulations and reached a consensus through mutual consultation and the implementation of a dispute settlement mechanism. For more than 20 years, China has unilaterally carried out a series of reforms unilaterally and the direction of the Chinese leaders’ reforms will not change.
