Recently, Zhang Kangkang, member of the CPPCC National Committee and vice chairman of the Chinese Writers’ Association, proposed to ease the operating difficulties of current physical bookstores by reducing or eliminating tax burdens and using financial subsidies as physical bookstores. This has aroused widespread concern in private bookstores. A few years ago, people used to refer to private bookshops as the “last gold mine in China” together with the book publishing industry.
