邓中夏是我国早期工人运动的杰出领袖,是省港大罢工的卓越领导者。1894年10月5日出生于湖南省宜章县太平里乡邓家湾村。父亲邓典谟是清末举人,辛亥革命前后均在外地任职,晚年回家养老。立志要为民众办事,便带头发起编撰县志并自任主编,深受乡人称颂。邓中夏天资聪颖,又受其父熏陶,1912年考入宜章县城阁邑高等小学堂,因成绩优异于次年便提前考入郴州郡第七联合学校,1915年夏,考入湖南高等师范学校增设的专修科文科乙班。那时,正是袁世凯企图复辟帝制之日,青年的邓中夏与蔡和森积极参与反袁斗争,体现出了他的爱国意志。
Deng Zhongxia is an outstanding leader of the early workers’ movement in China and an outstanding leader in the general strike of the province and port. Deng Zhongxia gifted and talented, but also influenced by his father, was admitted to Yichang County Town Gentle higher elementary school in 1912, due to excellent results in the following year admitted to Chenzhou County seventh joint school, summer 1915, admitted to Hunan higher Teacher training school additional B classes. At that time, it was Yuan Shikai’s attempt to reinvigorate the imperial system. The young Deng Zhongxia and Cai Hesen actively participated in the struggle against the Yuan and demonstrated his will to patriotism.
