台湾画廊协会成立于1991年,由台湾的画廊业者组成,每年约4、5月间举办台北国际艺术博览会,邀请国内外画廊业者参展。成立至今画廊协会见证了画廊产业在台湾的起伏,从20世纪90年代初艺术市场一阵大好,90年代中以后随着台湾经济大环境的下滑而衰退,近几年反而因为大陆艺术市场的狂飙,连带地引动台湾业者与艺术家积极参与这波以大陆为主的华人艺术风潮,台湾画廊业也似乎又有了活动力。
Taiwan Gallery Association was established in 1991, by the Taiwan gallery operators, each year around April and May held in Taipei International Art Fair, inviting domestic and foreign galleries exhibitors. Since its founding, the Gallery Association has witnessed the ups and downs of the gallery industry in Taiwan. Since the early 1990s, the art market has been booming. Since the mid-1990s, with the downturn in Taiwan’s economic environment, it has been declining. In recent years, due to the hurricane of the mainland art market, The Taiwan art industry also seems to have been revitalized by the joint efforts by Taiwan’s industry and artists to actively participate in this wave of mainland-based Chinese art.
