绵阳25号(原代号88—304)系绵阳市农科所从1974年开始。利用优良基因结合体与当时最新品种(系)进行阶梯式四次杂交。经14年杂交选育,1988年稳定成系。1995年经四川省品种审定委员会审定推广。它的系谱是[(T808×12 12.)F_3×绵阳75—14]F_3×绵阳11号)F_3×绵阳15号。累计种植面积已达1000万亩以上。其主要特点是:
