Discourse communicators often rely on non-verbal behavior to reason about the true intentions of judging each other and to understand unsolvable communicative messages, which is itself a cognitive process. Nonverbal behaviors have the cognitive function of highlighting discourse information and making certain implicit pragmatic information graphically. Therefore, this paper tries to make a cognitive analysis of non-verbal behavior in discourse intercourse from the graphic-background theory, which aims to break through the limitations of the theoretical framework of intercultural communication and extend the theoretical study of nonverbal behavior to the field of cognitive linguistics.
